Did you say it was August?!

OK, we might be a little behind with this project.

Not much. Just a little bit.

We're not on a schedule. It'll all get done, all get put together. Sooner or later - sometime in 2013 - Lady A and I will have finished quilts from this project. I swear.

Until then, lets just enjoy the process and the time...yeah. That's a nice block for Aug...er, May!
It's never to late to join the fun! All the blocks are based on a layout variation of the same cuts - easy peasy!

What long-term projects are going on in your creative space?

Why is it Unknown Love? Because I have no idea what this block is called, but I love it. It's my favorite of all the blocks we're doing for the first quarter of this year long HST BOM.

I actually wasn't sure I'd like it when I saw the design, but translated into fabric I discovered I really, really like it. I'm so enjoying all the variety of blocks to make with Half Square Triangles, especially since I like to make HSTs & find them satisfying & easy. I'm also loving that as Lady A & I create these blocks together I can see what a big difference in tone fabric choice can make in each deisgn.

You can see all my blocks for the Block Of The Month Quilt Along fun here. :)

We got our February blocks done just under the wire!
Not sure what the heck I'm talking about? Here is the catch-up posts from January. :)
Lady A decided to make her quilt for her youngest daughter. She's using old baby clothes to make it super special. It's gonna be crazy cuddly and wonderful since baby clothes are just that. Many of the clothes are knit though so working with them and not having them stretch is a challenge we're learning about as we go. I'm loving this project. I'm especially loving that we're learning new blocks & having this quilting adventure together!
February's block is Flying Geese. Super easy - I'll probably be saying that about all the blocks for this series! Once you learn the basic Half Square Triangle changing the layout of the 16 of them in these blocks is easy to do. There is such a variety of ways to arrange them &  blocks to be made from this basic foundation that I'm excited to see the next arrangement as soon as I'm done with the current one! I also find I'm looking at other quilt patterns in a new way. I can see how to break down a pattern into HSTs much easier now. Some patterns when looked at as a whole seem intimidating are really simplified when I view them this way. Do you have a favorite block utilizing the Half Square Triangle??

I'm partial to the various stars myself. Which is why I chose the pattern below for my new quilt project.
I'm making a wall hanging from my absolute favorite Moda fabric collection - Ruby! I want to make LOTS of things from this collection. I want to cover my house in it! Ruby just makes me smile. :) Stars make me smile too, so the 'A Better Star for all Seasons' pattern is just right. I hope Mom doesn't mind that I've already got our next project (or two, or three) planned out!

Block Numero Uno, the January block from the HST (Half-Square Triangle) BOM (Block Of the Month) happening over at In Color Order! Please squint & pretend all the corners meet. Thank you. This Sawtooth Star Variation was easy to learn and assemble. I even convinced my crafty friend Lady A to join me on this little quilting adventure! Hip Hip & Hooray! Here is a shot of our finished blocks side by side...
I am so very much looking forward to seeing what fun block Jeni posts next month! Have I convinced you to join us yet? It's not too late! It's never too late!

I'm already making a list of projects for the new year. First on that list is to make a quilt with these super fantastic Sweetwater charm packs. They've been sitting on my dresser for about six months but I just couldn't decide what to do with them.
Until...
Jeni over at In Color Order announced she was doing a Half-Square Triangle Block Of The Month Series this year. I joined Jeni last year for the Warm Cool Quilt Along so I already know she gives super easy to follow instructions & has a great eye for quilting, which means I already know I'll love all the blocks she picked out & be able to complete them. Yay!

I now have to choose a background fabric color before I can actually get started on January's Sawtooth Star. I know I don't want white, or anything too dark. For some reason I'm leaning toward a pale grey & I'm not sure why. I'm not even sure it'll go with the fabrics in the collection. Maybe a pale blue would be better? Decisions. Decisions.

If you'd like to join me on this creative adventure, learn some new quilt blocks, use up some scraps, or have a sure-to-be-finished quilt top by the end of the year then just click on the photo to the left. I'd love to follow your progress too!

Do you have a list of creative endeavors started yet? Or maybe carried over from last year? Mine is actually a mix of the two. But, after the holiday making frenzy I haven't pulled out my ever-evolving list yet to see what I'm carrying over...
You have an excellent imagination, right?
I knew you did!
For now let's just pretend that the list is a clean slate & this is the only thing on it...mkay? Thanks! :)
