No Man’s Sky’s New Patch Notes Revealed

No Man’s Sky is one of the most highly anticipated games this year and although it promises a vast level of exploration, it also presented a lot of issues particularly for the players of the PC version of the game.

According to Sean Murray, one of the main developers of the game, he said that Hello Games has been working non-stop since launch day to address the many issues that people have faced since August 12.

Now, as previously mentioned, most of the issues that players face is on the PC version of the game. As it turns out, there are many hardware incompatibilities resulting in game’s crashing and stuttering.

Also, according to Murray, they have released a total of three patches in order to rectify the issues on the PC side.

They have just recently released the third patch since launch and that they did not issue any patch notes.

Well, the good thing is that they just recently released the complete patch notes, from patch 1 to patch 3 and Murray said that this fixes 70% of the problems on the PC version of the game.

The first patch that was released was for support of older computer hardware. This includes AMD Phenom processors support, support for PCs that have fewer than 4 processor cores, Radeon 6000 series graphics card support, among others.

Also included in the first patch is the improvement of Alt-Tabbing where before, the game would crash when pressing this key combination.

The framerate stuttering issue that was experienced in the early days of No Man’s Sky was due to the “Shader Caching feature. Basically, the previous GPU shader caching system was not able to match people’s GPU configurations.

This has been changed and people should not experience any issues anymore. They might experience a stutter during the first moments in the game but that should quickly go away as you progress.

The second patch was aimed at fixing some of the stability issues as well as some bug fixes. For example, prior to the patch, a lot of players get stuck under the world. They would save their games, reload the game again, and would find themselves stuck in the same position. That has now been fixed with Patch 2.

There is also a huge bug wherein players were not able to save their progress until they die in-game. That has since been rectified.

Then comes Patch 3. Patch 3 is basically an extension of Patch 2 and it hopes to fix more bugs. One of these bugs is loading corrupted saves.

According to the gaming company, there are instances where the players save their games only to have the game crash. This would result in corrupted saved games.

In this patch, you can now load corrupted saves without any hitch. If the corrupted saved game is loaded, I suggest you save the game again in order for the game to generate another complete save.

No Man’s Sky is available on the PC and on the Playstation 4 game console.
